Francis (Frank) Paul Ahern, age 69, of Northford, CT, beloved husband of 50 years to Victoria (Vicky) Bronson Ahern, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 10, 2019 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in New Haven, CT on November 16, 1949 and was the son of Pasqualina (Patsy) Simone Ahern and the late William J. (Spike) Ahern. Frank was a Master Barber and the proud owner of High & Crown Barber Shop in New Haven, CT and Frank’s Barbershop of Westerly in Westerly, RI. He took great pride in making his customers look and feel great. He was a member of Local 455 Constructi­on and General Laborers Union and Local 443 Teamster’s Union (American Linen Company) of New Haven. In addition, he worked for the Connecticu­t Lottery Corporatio­n and the Department of the Military (Camp Rell). Frank was a 4th degree member of the K of C (Commodore John Barry Assembly 097) and enjoyed being a member of The Westerly Band playing his tenor saxophone. He loved the Westerly beaches and his classic 1955 Chevrolet Bel-Air. He was a special Pop-Pop to his grandchild­ren and loved spending time with his family. Frank is survived by his loving children Francis Paul Ahern, Jr. (Patricia Lucian Ahern) and Maria Ahern Bronson (Michael Manna) and grandchild­ren Kevin and Kyle Cohen, Angelina and Anthony DeBenedet, and Rocco and Frank Ahern III. His sisters Trisha and Catherine Ahern, brother William J. Ahern, Jr. (Mary Atwater Ahern); aunts Justina Simone Savenelli, Josephine Curello, and Rose Marie Simone along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the special care and support provided by the staff at Smilow Cancer Centers of New Haven and North Haven as well as Connecticu­t Hospice. Friends and family are invited to visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford, CT, on Sunday, January 13, 2019. Calling hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church on 70 Washington Avenue, New Haven, CT on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven, CT.
