Seymour VFW to hold decades dance
SEYMOUR — VFW Post 12084 is inviting the public to a dance through the decades Jan. 25, featuring music from the 1950s to the ’80s.
The dance will be held from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at LaSala Sons of Italy Banquet Hall, 73 High St., Derby.
Tickets are $20 per person and include beverages, a DJ, raffles, door prizes, hot and cold appetizers and more. A cash bar will be available. Proceeds will benefit veterans’ programs.
Tickets should be purchased in advance by calling VFW Post Commander Al Yagovane at 203-736-7981 or Steve Foster at 203-654-1002. There will be a limited amount of tickets available at the door.
Free income tax prep available
DERBY — Team Inc.’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program will offer free tax preparation and filing services to eligible Valley households needing to file their 2018 returns.
VITA is a financial literacy initiative providing free tax preparation services for individual or family incomes less than $55,000 a year. IRS-trained volunteers will prepare and file basic tax returns, as well as educate participants on the Earned Income Tax Credit, child tax credits and other tax-related issues and opportunities.
Appointments are available Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, Jan. 27-April 15. They will take place at Team, 30 Elizabeth St.; Derby Neck Library, 307 Hawthorne Ave.; and Milford Senior Center, 9 Jepson Drive in Milford.
