Atkinson, Yale topple Cornell

Paul Atkinson led the way with 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Yale men’s basketball team, which beat Cornell 98-92 Saturday night in an Ivy League game at Ithaca, New York.

Jordan Bruner added 22 points and eight rebounds and Miye Oni 20 points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (17-4, 7-1).

Matt Morgan poured in a game-high 35 points and Jimmy Boeheim added 24 for Cornell (13-11, 5-3).

Yale has won five straight.

New Haven 75, St. Rose 54: Elijah Bailey led the way with 15 points for New Haven in a Northeast-1o Conference win at West Haven.

Derrick Rowland and Roy Kane both added 14 points for the Chargers (17-7). St. Rose dropped to 8-16.

Southern Conn. 97, Le Moyne 91 (OT): Isaiah McLeod’s career-high 35 poibts helped Southern Connecticu­t outlast Le Moyne in this NE-10 win at Syracuse, New York.

Luke Beasley and Kealan Ives scored 16 and 15 points, respective­ly, for the Owls (16-10, 11-7). C.J. AsuncionBy­rd led LeMoyne (14-8, 11-6) with 26 points.

Albertus Magnus 93, Suffolk 87: Jahmerikah Green-Younger shot 8 of 14 from the floor to finish with a 23 points for Albertus Magnus in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference win at New Haven.

Davon Warner added 19 points for the Falcons (17-7, 9-2), who will be the top seed in the GNAC tournament and host Lasell in the quarterfin­als Tuesday. Thomas Duffy scored a game-high 29 points for Suffolk (18-7, 9-2).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Cornell 43, Yale 41: Laura Bagwell-Katalinich finished with game-highs in points (17) and rebounds (nine) for Cornell, which came from behind to hand Yale its first home loss in an Ivy League game at New Haven.

Samantha Widmann added 1 points for the Big Red (9-10, 3-5). Roxy Barahman scored 14 points to lead the Bulldogs (15-8, 5-3).

Le Moyne 75, Southern Conn. 55: Jenna Zimmerman led four players in double figures with 16 points for Le Moyne (19-4, 13-4) in a NE-10 win at Syracuse, New York. Kiana Steinauer scored 17 points to lead the Owls (13-13, 7-11).

New Haven 55, St. Rose 37: Camryn Dubose scored 16 points to lead New Haven (14-11) on Senior Day at West Haven. Karissa Birthwrigh­t scored 13 points to lead St. Rose (11-12).

Albertus Magnus 68, Suffolk 62: Rah Rah Thompson scored a gamehigh 26 points for Albertus Magnus (22-3, 10-2) in a GNAC win at New Haven.

Albertus will be the No. 3 seed in the GNAC tournament and host No. 6 Regis at 6 p.m. Marissa Gudauskas scored 15 points to lead Suffolk (18-7, 9-3).

MEN’S LACROSSE

Brown 20, Quinnipiac 7: Three players scored three goals apiece for Brown in its non-league season opener at Providence, Rhode Island. Tyler MacKay scored three goals for the Bobcats (0-2).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

No. 6 Cornell 4, Yale 0:

Kristin O’Neil scored twice for Cornell (18-3-6, 15-3-2) in an ECAC win at Ithaca, New York. Yale dropped to 7-18-2, 6-12-2.

Quinnipiac 5, Union 0:

Taylor House scored twice for Quinnipiac in an ECAC win at Hamden.

Sarah Coutu-Godbout added a goal and an assist for the Bobcats (12-16-4 (9-9-2). Union dropped to 4-26-2, 2-17-1.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

Albany 15, Yale 13: Kendra Harbinger scored four goals for Albany, which came from behind to win the non-conference season opener at Albany, New York. Jill Gollob scored four goals for Yale.

Brown 16, Quinnipiac 9: Risa Mosenthal scored eight eight goals for Brown in its non-conference season opener at Providence, Rhode Island. Allison Kuhn had five goals for the Bobcats (1-1).
