Network of Executive Women offering scholarshi­ps

The Network of Executive Women is accepting applicatio­ns for undergradu­ate scholarshi­ps through Feb. 28, according to a release.

The scholarshi­ps are being offered to women residing or attending school in New Haven or Fairfield counties who demonstrat­e financial need, the release said, and applicants must be returning, continuing or beginning schooling or other types of training to further education goals and/or enhance job skills. Students going directly from high school to college are not eligible, according to the release.

Burzenski & Co. helps nonprofit cat rescue

NEW HAVEN — Felines at the Greater New Haven Cat Project, a nonprofit dedicated to helping stray, abandoned and feral cats, will be sporting new collars thanks to a donation from Burzenski & Co. employee Lee Rackliff.

Radcliff recently presented 35 collars to Rachel and Cheryl of GNHCP, and will be given to people who adopt a cat.

The donation was part of the East Haven company’s 35 for 35 campaign, celebratin­g the firm’s 35th year. “It represents Burzenski & Company’s commitment to volunteeri­sm, completing small but powerful actions throughout the year and to supporting our business commitment to non-profit organizati­ons,” according to a release.

Restaurant, bar owners, servers can get TIPS training

MILFORD — The Milford Prevention Countil will be offering all Milford restaurant/bar owner and servers training in the responsibl­e service, sale, and consumptio­n of alcohol, known as Training Interventi­on Procedures, or TIPS.

“TIPS is a skills-based training program designed to prevent intoxicati­on, underage drinking, and drunk driving,” according to a release. “By building on individual­s’ fundamenta­l ‘people skills,’ TIPS provides the knowledge and confidence they need to recognize potential alcohol related problems and how to effectivel­y intervene to prevent alcohol-related tragedies.”

MILFORD — The Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business After Hours networking event from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 20 at Bar Louie, 1201 Boston Post Road.
