KEEP AN EYE ON

Good at sharing: The Huskies have recorded at least 30 assists three times this month, including 32 in Wednesday’s 102-45 rout of Memphis. It’s something they did just once over their first 21 games.

Following Friday’s practice at the Werth Center, assistant coach Chris Dailey offered a few reasons — better effort and improved trust between teammates — for the increased totals.

“There’s also,” Dailey said, “a better sense of who needs the ball when, and where do they need it. We’re not making passes to people who can’t do anything with it.”

For example, there’s been a concerted effort to get Christyn Williams and Megan Walker more 3-pointers from the corner.

“I take that shot a lot, more than any other place on 3pointers,” said Williams, who is 10 for her last 18 from beyond the arc. “I guess I’m more comfortable in the corner.”

Select company: Only three players in UConn history have tallied 2,000 points, 600 rebounds and 400 assists: Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi.

With nine more rebounds, guard Katie Lou Samuelson will join them. The senior has already scored 2,220 points and dished out 421 assists.

“Being named with the people that are named,” Samuelson said, “that’ll be pretty cool.”

So long: Tulsa lost its go-to guard when junior Shug Dickson, who averaged 14.1 points last year, transferred to Texas Tech in December. The 5-foot-9 St. Louis native played only three games this season for the Golden Hurricane.

Forward Crystal Polk has since taken over the lead scoring role, averaging 13.0 points.
