Black Feathers to be part of ‘Folk Fridays’
NEW HAVEN — The Black Feathers will perform this Friday as part of CT Folk’s monthly “Folk Fridays” series.
Showtime is 7:30 p.m in the First Presbyterian Church of New Haven (704 Whitney Ave.). Admission is $25 at the door or $20 in advance ($10 for students.) Advance tickets are available until 3 p.m. the day of the show at ctfolk.com/events.
The Black Feathers — Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler — are an awardwinning Americana, folk and acoustic indie rock duo from Gloucestershire in the United Kingdom, where they have toured extensively.
In recent years, the U.S. has come to know their songwriting and harmonies as well.
The Black Feathers were selected to play a formal showcase for the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference in 2018.
In their music, Chandler and Hughes combine elements of folk, roots, Americana and southern rock music, among others.
They have performed at festivals all over the UK, including the prestigious Cambridge Folk Festival, Stroud Folk Festival and Maverick. They were awarded the 5 Valleys Folk Award in September 2013, and the Folkstock Arts Foundation award for Best Live Performance the following February.
2014 also saw the release of “Strangers We Meet,” The Black Feathers’ debut five-track EP.
