Mr. Bertrand “Bert” Alexander Czuchra died peacefully at home on

June 1, 2020 at the age of 88.

Bert was born June 20, 1931 in New Haven, Connecticu­t, and spent his early years in the circle of his large extended family in the area. After high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He earned an AS degree from Quinnipiac College in 1956 where he met his wife, Rosemary. In 1958, he earned a BS Degree in Business Administra­tion at Boston University, and soon after married Rosemary. Bert had a successful, 30-year career at Aetna Life & Casualty in Hartford, CT, retiring as an Assistant Vice President. The couple made their home in Tolland, CT for 37 years where they raised their 6 children. Bert was passionate about sports, loved to read, was always excited to travel with Rosemary, and spend time with his children and grandchild­ren. His sparkling blue eyes and warm smile will be remembered forever. Bertrand will be loved and missed by his surviving wife of 62 years, Rosemary A. Czuchra; sister Eleanor Crowley and husband James of Chatham, MA; daughter Bernadette Clevenger and husband Ken of St. Paul, MN, and their daughters Koren Fitzmorris and Alyssa Wright of the Twin Cities, MN; son Bertrand G. Czuchra and wife Alison of Orleans, MA, and their sons Andrew of Boston, MA, and Benjamin of Burlington, MA; son Lyle Czuchra and wife Lisa of Dartmouth, MA, and their son Alexander of Worcester, MA; son Darryl Czuchra and wife Deborah and their sons Nicholas and Matthew of Searsmont, ME; son Matthew J. Czuchra of Brewster, MA, and daughter Rosemary Teegarden and husband Greg and their children Ava and Wesley of Pownal, ME. He is predecease­d by his brother, Walter Czuchra.
