Theophilus Paul Guliuzza, Sr., fondly known as Rocky, age 86, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Born in Derby on April 26, 1934, he was a son of the late Charles and Angela Guliuzza. Rocky was a lifelong resident of Connecticu­t and the owner of Charlie’s Service Station in Seymour where he worked most of his adult life. He enjoyed his work and had a great appreciati­on for his loyal customers, many of whom became great friends. He was also the organist at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for many years. Rocky had a passion for cars and motorcycle­s and enjoyed just taking a simple drive. Survivors include his loving daughter Linda and her husband Robert Von Stein of Trumbull, his son, Theophilus Guliuzza, Jr. of New Haven, cherished grandchild­ren Robert, Michael and Scott Von Stein and Andrea Bauchman, his brother, Joseph Guliuzza and several great grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews. Rocky was predecease­d by his brother, Charles Guliuzza, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebratin­g Rocky’s life will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Dr., Ansonia. Face masks are required and social distancing will be expected. There are no calling hours. Barbara Anne Nichols, 76, of Hamden, CT passed away on February 11, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital from cardiac arrest and metastatic ovarian cancer. Born in New Haven, CT, Barbara was raised in both New Haven and Hamden, CT. She is survived by her sister, Rosemary Nichols of Branford, CT, her brother, Mark Nichols of New Haven, CT, her nieces Carmella Nichols and Katherine Nichols of New Haven, CT, and her sister-in-law Denise Botto of New Haven, CT. Barbara is also survived by her many cousins and her “adopted” sisters, Anne Marie Menta of Hamden, CT and Elyse Greenberg of Shelton, CT. Barbara attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School as well as St. Mary’s High School. During her teenage years, she developed mental illness but despite this challenge, Barbara went on to complete her Associates Degree in Early Childhood at South Central Community College. Against all odds, starting at age 45 she lived independen­tly, supporting herself by working at Stop & Shop. During her life Barbara traveled with family in the U.S. and abroad. She had an incredible memory, a good sense of humor and a love of animals. Once you were Barbara’s friend, she never forgot you, your family, your pets and asked about them frequently. She had many friends in both the staff and fellow residents at Hamden Health Care where she lived for the last several years. Barbara will be cremated and a Memorial Mass as well as Celebratio­n of Life will be done when pandemic restrictio­ns are lifted. In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family is asking that donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – www.nami.org or the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) – ovarian.org .
