Elizabeth R. Harkin of Pilgrim’s Harbor, died February 26, 2021 at home.

Born August 3, 1923, Betty was the fourth daughter of Patrick L. and Genevieve (Dillon) Harkin. She graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1940 and received her associate’s degree from Weylister Junior College in 1942. Following a business career, she retired as the administra­tive assistant to the director at the Yale Comprehens­ive Cancer Center in 1986.

She lived in the Westville section of New Haven until 1980 when she moved to Pilgrims Harbor. Betty had been a longtime volunteer at the Wallingfor­d Public Library, a past member and President of the Wallingfor­d Garden Club and a parishione­r of the Church of Resurrecti­on.

She was predecease­d by her three sisters: Genevieve H. Lewis, Virginia H. Clifford, and Katherine H. Healey, her brother Edward D. Harkin and nephew Richard L. Clifford. Betty is survived by two nieces: Elizabeth Clifford and Elizabeth H. Woods; seven nephews: Stephen Clifford, Russell Healey, Patrick Harkin, Edward Harkin, Paul Harkin, John Harkin, and James Harkin as well as several great nieces and nephews and many great greats.

A Mass of Christian Burial followed by interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to The Church of the Resurrecti­on or The Wallingfor­d Public Library. The B.C.
