“A Virtual Day in 1762,” online field trip hosted by Derby Historical Society, in March, April, and May for one-hour timeslots on select Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Travel to colonial Derby for a look into the life of young David Humphreys, who later in life became aide-decamp to George Washington during the Revolutionary War. The “Living History” experience takes place at the home of General David Humphreys and is led by Docents in period attire. 5th-grade classes of the Lower Naugatuck Valley towns of Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour, & Shelton are invited. Visual Arts site’s history through new interpretive signs, figure out the three Visitor Center “What Is It?” window displays, and play a scavenger hunt and submit answers for a chance to win a prize at the end of the year. Outdoor visitors are also encouraged to picnic, play catch, read, paint, etc. Social distancing required. Lenten Concert Series with guest organists performing on the historic 1929 Möller pipe organ, hosted by First Congregational Church of Madison, 26 Meetinghouse Lane.
