With a heavy heart we lay to rest our beloved husband, father, brother and friend Daniel O’Neill who passed away on April 7, 2021, at Yale New Haven Hospital of COVID-19. Danny was born in New Haven on November 20, 1952. Husband and best friend to Susan Sette O’Neill. Cherished father to Alexandria O’Neill (fiance Stephen Nixon). Adored son of the late Frank and Bridget Reynolds O’Neill. Brother of Mary McKiernan, Edward (Harriet) O’Neill, Patricia (David) Viglione, all of Hamden, Nancy (David) Hainsworth of Branford. Brother-in-law of Joan O’Neill and Marie O’Neill. He was predecease­d by his brothers John, Thomas and Frank O’Neill and brother-in-law William McKiernan. Devoted son-in-law of the late Joseph A. and Elena Sette. Brother-in-law Joseph and Alice Sette, Linda Sette Hines and Mark and Beth Sette. He also leaves behind loving nieces and nephews. Graduate of Notre Dame High School in West Haven. His first job was at Yale University. He was for 22 years, the co-owner of Hainsworth Sports in East Haven and Hamden. He was a sales manager at Engineered Plastics N.E. Dan had a lifelong love of hockey as an ardent fan of the New York Rangers and the New Haven Blades and as a coach in the New Haven Senior Hockey League. His passion for the game of golf enriched his life immeasurab­ly. Dan was a member of the Wallingfor­d CC and played Laurel View CC. He began playing the “Back Nine” at New Haven Muncicipal GC “Muni” and continued to the present with his many dear friends. Dan was a genuine soul who will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 659 Tower Ave., 1st floor, Hartford, CT 06112-1269. Friends are invited to go directly to Divine Mercy Parish St. Rita Church, Whitney Ave. Hamden for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am on Tuesday. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Hamden. Friends may call at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Monday from 5:00-7:00 pm.
