Joyce Reilly

February 18, 1930 - May 13, 2021

Joyce Sperry Reilly , 91, made her journey to Heaven on a beautiful Spring day on May 13, 2021 where she joined her husband Robert M. Reilly, her daughter Jeanne Reilly, her sister, Maureen Abate , her brother Robert Sperry and her parents Elmer J. and Catherine Cohane Sperry. Joyce is survived by her four children: Kathy Reilly, John Reilly and wife Grace, Robert Reilly and wife Janet, and Brian Reilly; her six grandchildren and their families: Ian Reilly, Jason and Ofelia Reilly, Robert J. Reilly and Laura Daughtridge, Megan and Michael Cartman, Kelly Reilly, and Katie Reilly. Also, she leaves behind her six great-grandchildren Mason, Ava, Gia, Jacob, Veda and Wesley who brought her great joy during their visits. She is also survived by many nephews. Joyce attended St. Lawrence school in West Haven, West Haven High School, and also took courses at Gateway Community College and Quinnipiac College. She retired from Union Trust Company in New Haven. She had a long association with St Rita’s Church in Hamden including membership in the Marion Guild, the Legion of Mary-Blue Army, and the St. Rita Home Association. Joyce spent the last 18 months of her life at Whitney Rehabilitation Care Center in Hamden surviving the Covid 19 virus while visiting with her family through the window of her room. On Mother’s Day, May 9, 2021, her family was finally able to hug and kiss her during a joyous in-person visit. Thanks to all the caring staff at Whitney Rehab who helped her during her final journey home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 11:00 in Divine Mercy Parish St. Rita Church, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Calling hour will be Tuesday morning prior to the mass from 9:30-10:30 at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Mask and social distancing required at church and funeral home.
