Melba Edna Corliss-Yish, of Centervill­e, MA, formerly of Oxford, CT passed away on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 at Boston Medical Center at the age of 85. She was the beloved wife of Gene Yish, with whom she shared many loving years of marriage.

Melba was born in Fayston, VT, the daughter of the late Clarence and Edna (Brown) Corliss. At the age of 8, she moved with her family, to Southbury, CT. Soon after high school graduation, Melba married and was a stay at home Mom of 3 children. After they were grown, she entered the dental field and became a dental lab technician. She worked in various offices in Derby, Danbury and Fairfield, CT.

Melba is predecease­d by her beloved son William “Willy” Wehrhahn (2019). In addition to her husband, Gene, she is survived by her daughter Belinda Slawsby and husband Steven, of Centervill­e, MA; son Greg Wehrhahn of W. Haven, CT; brother Clarence “Sonny” Corliss, Jr. and wife Bernice of TN; granddaugh­ter Marci Wehrhahn, her husband Eric Vasquez and their daughter Lillian Vasquez of Katy, TX; grandson Bruce Richards and his daughter Gemma Richards of Beacon Falls, CT and granddaugh­ter Jodi Wyatt and her husband Ryan of Oxford, CT as well as many cousins and close friends.

When Melba and Gene married, they spent their first three years of marriage in Iceland where they traveled and explored the Nordic Island. While in Iceland, Melba picked up quilting. Her intricate and expressive quilts revealed her hidden talent. When Melba and Gene came back to the states, they went home to Oxford where they remained until they moved to Cape Cod, settling in Centervill­e, 21 years ago.

Melba was also an animal lover; she adored her cat Gaby and her grand dog, Lucas.
