Manuel Antonio DeLuz, Jr. (Butch) passed away on Tuesday June 22, 2021 at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, MI. Manuel was born in New Haven, CT on February 11, 1945. He was the son of the late Manuel and Amelia DeLuz. He served in the U.S. Army as a combat medic and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1963 and attended Gateway College. He retired from Yale University where he worked many years.

He was predecease­d by two of his brothers, John and Albert Pires, as well as his long time companion Margaret Holloway.

Butch was very sociable and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He liked visiting with friends far and near. One of his favorite pastimes was to drive to Alabama to go fishing with friends. In addition, he loved to go fishing with his son and grandchild­ren.

He is the beloved father of two sons Ibn Abula (Manuel) DeLuz and John DeLuz. He is survived by his brother Antonio J. DeLuz, Sr., and his sisters Rose Jackson, Louise PiresCurti­s, Lorraine DeLuz and Kathy Rodgers. He is survived by nine grandchild­ren, many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 AM on Thursday, July, 1 2021 followed by his service at 10:00 AM in the Curvin K. Council Funeral Home located at 128 Dwight St. New Haven, CT. His burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Blvd.

Repast for family and friends will be held at West River Hall located at 37 Orlando St. West Haven, CT.
