Diane Sands

November 30, 1951 - January 17, 2022

Diane (Girasuolo) Sands, 70, passed away peacefully from natural causes in her home on January 17, 2022. She was a long time resident of Branford. She is survived by her daughter Simone Sands (Jeremy Pattillo) of Pensacola, Florida, her granddaughter Loryn (Shawn) Smith of Pensacola, Florida, her great-granddaughters Camilla and Ivy Smith, also of Pensacola, Florida, sister Gail Buchanan of Miami, Florida, her brother Peter (Diane) Girasuolo of Meriden, as well as many close aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving parents Samuel and Doris Girasuolo of West Haven. She was born in New Haven and spent most of her life in Connecticut, but lived in Montreal, Canada for several years where she gave birth to her daughter.

Diane loved literature, different cultures, and humanity as a whole. But most of all she loved people and made a friend wherever she went. If you were to ask anyone who knew her to describe her, they would echo the same words: sweet, compassionate, generous, caring, and kind. She loved to walk and on most any day you could find her enjoying her walks through Branford.
