Penn hands Yale first Ivy loss

Jordan Dingle scored a game-high 31 points as the Penn men’s basketball team beat Yale 76-68 to hand the Bulldogs their first Ivy League loss of the season on Saturday in Philadelph­ia.

Jalen Gabbidon led Yale (8-9, 2-1 Ivy) with 21 points. Matt Knowling added 13 points for the Bulldogs, while Azar Swain checked in with 12 points.

Penn improved to 7-12 (4-2 Ivy).

New Haven 65, Assumption 64: At West Haven, Quashawn Lane’s free throw with no time remaining gave the Chargers a Northeast-10 Conference victory.

Tavin Pierre Philippe led UNH (11-6, 7-5) with 17 points. He was joined in double figures by Derrick Rowland (15 points) and Davontrey Thomas (13).

Assumption fell to 7-6 (3-6 NE-10).

Stonehill 80, SCSU 65: At Easton, Mass., Lyron Bennett had a career-high 23 points in the Owls’ NE-10 loss.

Jamaal Waters added 10 points for SCSU (4-8,2-5 NE-10). Andrew Sims led Stonehill (10-7, 6-5 NE-10) with 26 points.

WCSU 64, Plymouth State 51:

At Plymouth, N.H., Matthew Turner finished with 16 points to help WestConn snap a three game skid.

Kendall Robinson added 14 points for WCSU (8-7, 2-5 Little East), while Jaheim Young finished with 10 points.

Plymouth State fell to 7-7 (2-3 Little East).

UMass-Dartmouth 104, Wesleyan 94:

At Dartmouth, Mass., Marcus Azor scored 23 points and dished out 10 assists as the Corsairs snapped the Cardinal’s eight-game win streak in a non-conference matchup.

Antone Walker led Wesleyan (15-2) with 20 points. Nicky Johnson, Gabe Ravetz and Jordan James added 16 points apiece for the Cardinal.

UMass-Dartmouth improved to 12-2.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Yale 63, Penn 53:

At New Haven, Camilla Emsbo scored a team-high 13 points to lead the Bulldogs to an Ivy League win.

Jenna Clark added nine points and 10 rebounds for Yale (11-6, 4-1 Ivy League).

Kayla Padilla and Jordan Obi led Penn (7-9, 2-2 Ivy) with 18 points apiece.

Quinnipiac 72, Manhattan 65: At Hamden, Amani Free scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Bobcats to a MAAC win.

Mackenzie DeWees added 16 points and 10 rebounds for Quinnipiac (10-7, 5-3 MAAC), while Rose Caverly added 13 points.

Assumption 58, New Haven 48: At West Haven, Aurora Deshaies finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds in the Chargers’ NE-10 loss.

Marina Callahan finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead Assumpion (6-8, 3-7 NE-10). UNH fell to 5-10 (0-9 NE-10).

Siena 69, Fairfield 56: At Loudonvill­e, N.Y., Lou Lopez-Senechal finished with a game-high 23 points, but the Stags suffered their first MAAC loss of the season.

Janelle Brown added 14 points for Fairfield (10-6, 7-1 MAAC).
