Robert S. Goodman of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on January 27, 2022. He was born in New Haven, CT on December 12, 1933 and was the youngest child of Samuel and Leah Levene Goodman.

Bob was a graduate of Hillhouse High School and the University of Connecticu­t, home of his beloved Huskies. While at UConn, he spent summers working at the Grand Lake Lodge in Lebanon, CT where he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Sue Yaffe. Immediatel­y after their marriage in 1957, Bob was drafted by the U.S. Army and spent nearly 2 years in Korea proudly serving his country.

Upon his return, Bob began his career with Porce-Len where he was President for 52 years as a finisher of aluminum architectu­ral metals and non-stick bakeware. In the 1980’s he acquired Technal Aluminum Fencing from a French manufactur­er, which became SPECRAIL, a successful­ly expanding and growing industry leader.

Bob was engaged in the local community in a deeply meaningful way, leading efforts for the betterment of children and adults alike. He served as President of Probus Club, Oak Lane Country Club, Congregati­on B’nai Jacob, Camp Laurelwood, the New Haven Jewish Cemetery Associatio­n and most recently President of the neighborho­od associatio­n in his community at Boca West Country Club.

Among his numerous accolades, Bob received the B’nai Jacob Shem Tov Award and was proudly inducted into the University of Connecticu­t Athletic Club Hall of fame.

His deep passion for golf was only surpassed by his commitment to running and walking – he completed 14 marathons including the iconic New York City Marathon, the Boston Marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon and the Tiberias Marathon, has scored dozens of hole in ones and logged over 8,000 miles on foot over the course of 45 years.

At his core, Bob was a family man and had an unwavering love, commitment and pride for his wife, Sue, children, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. Bob is survived by his daughters Donna Goodman and Tammy (Robert) Greenberg, his son Scott Goodman, four grandchild­ren Stacey (Robert) Perrotti Lindsey (Joe) Cardella, Elliot Goodman Lee, and Michael Greenberg, three great-grandchild­ren (Emma Goodman Lee, Sophia and Daxton Perrotti), brother and sister-in-law Harvey & Helen (Cookie) Yaffe, many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predecease­d by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sue Goodman and by his brother and sister Norman (Penny) Goodman and Rhoda (Harold) Himmel.

A funeral service will be held at Congregati­on B’nai Jacob Synagogue, 75 Rimmon Road, Woodbridge, CT on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The interment will be in the B’nai Jacob Memorial Park, Wintergree­n Ave., New Haven.

The family wishes to extend its sincerest thanks to Bob’s doctors and caregivers in Boca Raton, most especially Dr. David Slotnick who treated him as if he was his own father.
