Cynthia Ann Dziekan Connolly

Cynthia Ann Dziekan Connolly, age 80, of Moorestown, NJ and Shelton, CT entered into rest on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, in her home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of 42 years to the late Joseph F. Connolly, MD. She was born in Derby on Jan. 6, 1942, the daughter of the late Stanley and Ann Kuca Dziekan and was a resident of Shelton for over 40 years before moving to NJ. Cynthia graduated from St. Michael’s School in Derby, from St. Mary’s High School in New Haven, and from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing. Upon her graduation, she went on to a long career in nursing, which started at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, and then at the VA Hospital in West Haven where she was the first nurse in charge of the Coronary ICU. She then assisted her husband, Joseph F. Connolly, MD, at his practice until her retirement. She is survived by beloved son Brian Connolly (Erica); loving grandchildren Shea Connolly, Declan Connolly, Keegan Connolly, all of Moorestown NJ, her loving brother, Holy Cross Brother Thomas Dziekan, CSC of Austin, TX, two stepchildren Joseph ( Jay) F. Connolly, Jr., and Shaun Connolly, and was stepgrandmother to Joseph F. Connolly, III. She is also survived by many cousins, several nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Ronald Dziekan. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. On Wednesday, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am in St. Joseph Church, 424 Coram Ave. Shelton. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby. Masks are required in the funeral home and encouraged to attend the services.
