Curtis Ray Tolson, Jr.

Curtis Ray “Pete” Tolson, Jr., 64, of New Haven, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Born in New Haven, CT, on October 26, 1957, he was the son of the late Curtis Ray Tolson, Sr. and Ernestine Barrymore. Curtis attended Wilbur Cross High School and was a standout football player. After graduating high school, he started his professional career as a New Haven Firefighter where he dedicated 33 years of service. Curtis was also a proud member of the New Haven Firebirds Society. Upon his retirement from the fire department, he relocated to Charlotte, NC. Curtis had a passion for giving and caring for others, especially his family and dear friends.

Curtis leaves to cherish his memory, 3 children, Joanna (Warren) Waller, Curtis (Brittany) Lopes, and Clarissa Glover; siblings Christine (Jeremy) Weston, Cynthia (Lorenzo, Jr) Vincent, Kevin (Sabrina) Tolson, Sr., Diane Tolson, and Darrell (Edie) Tolson; granddaughter, Zoe Waller; and a large loving extended family. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald A. Barrymore;

and his stepmother, Fleta Tolson.

A celebration of life will take place Monday, February 21, at 12:00 Noon at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Monday at the church from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Interment will be Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Services by Howard K.
