Joseph A. Brigante, Jr., 87, of Wallingfor­d, formerly of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in New Haven on October 30, 1934, was the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Ricardo Brigante, and brother of Florence Cocchicari­o and the late Alfred Brigante. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Mary DeLucia Brigante who tirelessly cared for him for many years. After graduating from Wilbur Cross High School where he excelled in football and track, Joseph entered the US Army and served our country faithfully as a Ceremonial Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He married his high school sweetheart and trained to become a Tool and Die Maker. He worked very hard to provide for his family never passing up an opportunit­y for overtime and ended his career at Schick in Milford. Joseph was a proud member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy in North Haven. In retirement he enjoyed travelling, playing golf, watching UCONN Women’s Basketball and cooking – especially Christmas Eve dinners, Italian food and pancakes for the grandkids. He was always there to lend a helping hand and install an electrical outlet. Beloved father of Patricia (Stephen) Zlamany, Annette (David) Murphy, Joseph (Cheryl) Brigante III, and Mary-Jo (Emmet) Murphy. He will be sadly missed by his 10 grandchild­ren and 2 great grandchild­ren.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, April 13th from 9:00 to 10:30 am at North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Church of the Resurrecti­on, Wallingfor­d at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
