Marino “Mike” Joseph Guerra, age 93, of Orange, CT passed away on April 2, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital. For 66 years, he was the beloved husband of late Marie Cofrances Guerra. Marino was born January 9, 1929, the son of the late Enrico and Annunziata Furlani Guerra. He is survived by his son Michael J. Guerra and daughter in law, Dr. Linda R. Marinello of Brookline, MA. Mike was raised in West Haven, CT, attending West Haven Public Schools, the University of Bridgeport and graduated from Quinnipiac College, with a degree in Business Administra­tion. He was a member of the Connecticu­t National Guard, as an Administra­tive Assistant working at the Goff Street Armory. He attended the Officer Candidate School and graduated as a Second Lieutenant. His National Guard unit was mobilized during the Korean Conflict during which time he served as a Regimental Personnel Officer in Virginia and later as a Warrant Officer with the Occupation Forces in Germany. Upon his return from Germany, he worked at the VA Hospital in West Haven as an Assistant to the Director of Communicat­ions and Records. For forty years thereafter he sold medical supplies and equipment to doctors in the Metropolit­an New Haven area, serving as Sales Manager for various medical supply companies. Upon retirement, Mike and his wife Marie were inseparabl­e, spending winters in Boynton Beach, FL and summers on Cape

Cod where they enjoyed biking and birdwatchi­ng. His time in both places allowed him to make many new friends, all of whom he dearly cherished. Most of all, he loved living in Orange for its peacefulne­ss and ubiquitous wildlife. He enjoyed the constant visits from deer, turkeys, and countless songbirds in his backyard. Above all, he always felt blessed to have lived a long life with his loving wife Marie, whom he adored.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9- 10:30am at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Masks are recommende­d. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in Holy Infant Church at 11am. Entombment will follow in St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum.
