Anthony T. “Chubby” Mastriano

September 14, 1934 - May 11, 2022

Our hearts are shattered, as the strongest link in our chain has been broken. Anthony (Chubby) T. Mastriano, 87 of North Haven passed away on May 11, 2022 after a brief illness. As in his life, his loving family was by his side. He was the devoted husband of 62 years to Mary (Tritto) Mastriano. She was dedicated to him beyond words. He always had a “hey beautiful” for “his girl.” Anthony was a cherished Father to Frank (Pattie) Mastriano, Lynne (Mark) Sansone and Carol Mastriano. He was an adored Papa “Pop” to Melissa Sansone and Frank (Lauren) Mastriano Jr. Anthony was born on September 14, 1934, son of the late Andrew and Mary (Murgo) Mastriano. He was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army. Anthony retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 45 years of service. In addition, he also worked for the New Haven Register for many years. His greatest love and accomplishment were his family, whom he adored and was often heard saying, “how did I ever get so lucky to have a family like this.” Anthony spent most of his life working hard and providing for his family. He was generous to a fault and always giving to his family. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time on home projects and working on “little jobs.” He traveled extensively throughout his life and most enjoyed many special trips to the White Mountains in New Hampshire and Aruba. Chubby will always be remembered for his candor, ingenuity, sense of humor, big smile, laughter and words of wisdom.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd.(Rte. 80), East Haven, Monday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
