Hanora “Annie” Leary O’Neill Purcell, age 94 of Hamden, passed away peacefully into the hands of God on August 10, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Purcell; children Thomas O’Neill, William O’Neill, Sheila (Pascal) Panza, Kathleen “Katie” (Michael) Regan; stepchildr­en Noreen Dillman, Susan (Yair) Landau, Thomas (Beth) Purcell, Bridget (Tyrone) Prescot, Eileen (Brian) Patterson, Brian (Becky) Purcell and many grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. She was predecease­d by her first husband William O’Neill and siblings Mary McNally, Kay O’Connell, John Leary and Bridie O’Connell. Annie was born in November 1927 in Portmagee of Co. Kerry, Ireland to the late Thomas and Nora Granfield Leary. She immigrated to Connecticu­t in 1950 and had lived in Hamden for the past 60 years. Ann was a faithful parishione­r of Blessed Sacrament Church and a proud member of the Irish American Community Center. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and loyal friend. We extend our special thanks to Nikki Massaro, Kathy Grant and the staff at Benchmark for the kindness and care you gave to Ann. She enjoyed your company, especially a good chat over a hot cup of tea! A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022 at 11:00am in Blessed Sacrament Church, Circular Ave., Hamden. Burial will be private. Friends may call at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Saturday morning prior to the Mass from 9:00-10:30.
