Annette “Babe” Derenzo, of New Haven died peacefully on August 19, 2022. Born October 15, 1926 in New Haven, Annette was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Derenzo. A long-time resident of this city, she is survived by many cousins and friends, in particular Mark and Kara Shea Gravino, Maggie Acampora, Andrew and Margret Acampora, Paul Tescione, Pat Derenzo and Vivian Pappas. Babe as she was called by family and friends, started working at a young age with her mother in a dress factory on Water Street. She eventually worked at JM Field/Caldors for many years in the jewelry department. She was a member of the East Shore Seniors and the Red Hat Society and attended the weekly meetings and participated in the activities they offered. Babe often went on various bus trips and enjoyed many shows and events with her friends. Babe was the happiest when she was with family. Wednesday night dinners were special and never missed and Saturday afternoon lunches became a regular. When the holidays approached, she was thrilled and enjoyed being part of the Italian meals and traditions. Babe’s family would like to thank the nursing staff of Yale New Haven Hospital and Whitney Manor for the care and attention they provided. Also, to the staff of Vitas Healthcare for the compassionate care they provided.
