Paul Williams, 76, of New Haven, passed away on August 23, 2022, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT.

Paul was the third child of the late Henry W. Williams and Juanita P. Williams, born December 15, 1945, in New Haven, CT.

He received his formal education in New Haven and West Haven Public Schools. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War era, receiving an honorable discharge in 1967. Returning to New Haven following his tour of service, he was employed by Armstrong Rubber Company. In 1971, Paul became a New Haven Police Officer, serving in this capacity until 1978.

In 1978, after much thought, Paul decided to switch careers. He attended the New England Tractor Trailer School. While attending the school, Paul became a Substance Abuse Counselor for adults, working primarily with exoffenders. His clients always spoke highly of him. Upon receiving his CDL license, Paul gained employment in the trucking industry as a member of the Teamsters Union until his retirement from Shop and Stop in 2009.

Paul was suave and debonair. He appreciated fashion and style in all things but especially in clothes! Paul loved sporty cars. He owned a maroon and cream T-Bird, a pearl-white 750 BMW and his mid-night Blue 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Sting-Ray, the “Blue Betty.” Paul described himself as a gregarious individual who enjoyed life. He was a critical thinker, thus the nickname “Solve All Paul” was given to him by his brother-inlaw Kenny Mullings. Paul was strong willed. Plus, he loved and cared for canines. Because of Paul’s knowledge of canines, Kenny affectionately referred to Paul as “Dr. Dog.” Over the years he enjoyed loving and caring for several dogs - Quincy Jones, Rocky, Schatze and Zenyatta just to name a few. Paul loved traveling and playing a round of golf. Also, he was an avid chess player. To top it all, the man could cook! Paul was quick witted and capable of creating spontaneous laughter. The sound of his laughter was infectious!

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 37 years, Michelle Mullings Williams; his daughters Simone and Danielle Williams; his stepdaughter Kenya Greene and two grandchildren Hannah Greene and Cody Greene. His sisters Gwendolyn D. Williams of White Plains, MD, Vernelle Curtis of Virginia Beach, VA; brother Ted Williams (Pamela) of Bowie, MD; and a host of family members including nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, you may give donations in Paul Williams’ name to the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT. A memorial service will be held later.
