John T. Powers Jr.
John Thomas Powers, Jr., age 48, entered into peaceful rest on August 25, 2022, at Smilow Cancer Center, after a long battle with mast cell leukemia. John was born in Milford, CT on January 26, 1974, son of John Thomas Powers, Sr., and Joyce (Legere) Powers, of Oxford. A resident of Wolcott, CT, John was a graduate of Fairfield Preparatory School, Moravian College where he studied Musical Performance and Theory, and Albertus Magnus College where he was awarded a Master of Science degree. John was an incredibly talented musician who had many hobbies and pursuits including woodworking, gaming and listening to his beloved jazz music. The thing that gave John the most joy was spending time with his three beloved children, Chloe, Avarie and Ash Powers. John will continue to reside in the hearts of all those who knew him, including his maternal grandparents, William and Virginia (Young) Legere, sister, Jill Powers and her husband Tyson Kasfeldt, sister, Jennifer Kapranov and her husband and child Mikhail and Philip Kapranov, respectively, as well as his uncles, aunts and cousins. Entombment privately took place in Mount Saint Peter Garden Mausoleum in Derby and a celebration of John’s life is being planned for a later date. Details will be shared as they become available.
