On Thursday, October 13, 2022, Mildred B. Spencer, loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r and friend, passed away at age 89. Millie was known to all by her kindness, gentleness and quiet strength. She loved time with her family and was always ready to join in the fun. Millie was the daughter of Harold and Bernice Brainard, born and raised in Clinton, CT. She graduated from the Morgan School with honors and attended Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD. There she met Elmer Lee “Skee” Spencer as a patient. Millie returned to Clinton, but Skee persisted in getting her address from other student nurses. They correspond­ed, dated and were married in 1954. Millie and Skee lived in Charleston and Huntington, WV for the first year of their marriage before returning to Clinton, CT. They lived on the shoreline since 1956 and were Madison residents for almost 60 years. Millie and Skee celebrated their 60th wedding anniversar­y on August 14, 2014 before his passing on December 14, 2014. Millie is survived by her sister Judith Allik; her children Deborah (Thomas) Edwards, Scott Spencer and Patricia Vincelette; grandchild­ren Thomas, Patrick and Caitlin Edwards, Spencer and Alexander Vincelette; great-granddaugh­ters Sophia, Savannah and Julia Vincelette. In addition Millie is survived by grandchild­ren-in-law and love Krystal Vincelette, Ashley Vincelette and Michael Caparbi; many nephews, nieces, friends and her favorite feline Pebbles. Millie was predecease­d by her parents; brother Oliver Brainard; son-in-law Jeffrey Vincelette; brother-in-law

Henno Allik and beloved cousin Lillian White. Millie was a graduate of the Stone Business School and Vinal Technical LPN program. She worked as an LPN at Middlesex Hospital for over 20 years. She was appreciate­d by her coworkers and created lasting friendship­s. Millie was an avid reader. She enjoyed various crafts, music, card games, TV, movies and the New York Yankees. Above all else she was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r and greatgrand­mother. She was kind, nurturing, self-sacrificin­g, funny, and had a great sense of humor. She always put others’ needs before her own.

Calling hours for Mildred will be held Monday, October 24, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Clinton Bible Fellowship, 70 E. Main St., Clinton, CT. The funeral service begins at 11:00 AM at the church followed by a graveside service at Mica Hill Cemetery in Durham, CT. A reception will follow at Clinton Bible Fellowship. Please join us.
