Ardienne Waldron Damicis

Ardienne Waldron Damicis died January 25, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Damicis and the daughter of the late Philip and Shirley (Davis) Waldron. Ardienne graduated from the Cornell School of Hotel Administration after growing up at “The Homestead” in Greenwich, CT, which her parents owned from 1950 – 1960. However, she decided she would rather be a teacher and earn her MS in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University and advanced credits from Sacred Heart University. Ardienne moved to the Woodmont section of Milford in 1962 and taught 4th and 5th grades at Orchard Hills School, retiring in 1997. After her retirement, she was education chair at the Milford Historical Society. She organized and coordinated the school tours and the society for 20 years. She also served two terms as president of the society. She was active in Herbcrafters, a group which maintains the colonial herb garden around the Society’s Downs House. She also wrote and lead the reenactors’ tours of the Old Milford Cemetery. She was interested in tracing her family roots through genealogy. Ardienne joined the First United Church of Christ in 1972, served two terms on the Deaconate and sang in the choir. Since 2003 she has been the church historian. She was a member of the Freelove Baldwin Stowe Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she was Chaplain, and for many years did the community service awards program. She was a founding member of the Friends of Milford Cemetery, serving as secretary. Also writing the program and serving as a guide of their Arts and Symbols cemetery tour. She was also a member of the Friends Of Milford Library, Milford Preservation Trust,

Milford Land Trust and the Mayflower Society. She was honored with the designation of being one of “Milford’s Living Treasures” in 2018.

Ardienne is survived by her cousin, Karen Anderson, sister-in-law, Annabelle D’Amicis and several nephews, especially Philip (Kathy) Damicis and William (Liz) D’Amicis and their families. They were especially helpful to her in her final years. She was blessed to have wonderful neighbors and friends who became her extended family. Her beautiful front porch overlooking Long Island Sound welcomed them for celebrations and spirited conversations.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, February 4th from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the First United Church of Christ, 34 West Main Street Milford. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown next to her husband and her parents.
