Howard Joseph Tracey, 74 of North Haven, Connecticu­t, passed away peacefully on March 11th, 2023.

Howard “Tracey”, “Howie”, “Howard J” was born on July 27th, 1948, to John and Margret in New Haven CT. After he graduated from Hill House High School in 1966, he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army.

Throughout his decades as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, he created bonds with many who would become great friends throughout his life. In his retirement you would find Howard in his backyard listening to music, or in his den watching the Green Bay Packers.

Howard married his “Queen” Janice Vanacore Tracey on September 9th, 1988, they celebrated their 34th anniversar­y this past September. Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Bob ( Jenn) Vanacore, and Paul (Mariam) Vanacore. Also survived by Charlene Vanacore and Jeremy Waycutt whom he also considered family.

One of six children, Howard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margret; and his siblings, John “Red” Tracey and Patricia Weed. He is survived by his wife Janice, his siblings Ruthie Ferro, Kathy Miranda, and Gail Grottole. “Grampy” is Also survived by his grandchild­ren, Amanda, Logan, Vanessa, David, Stephanie, his six great-grandchild­ren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

The family would like to thank the Veterans Affairs Hospital in West Haven Connecticu­t, especially the ALS Clinic who have been overwhelmi­ngly helpful.

Interment will be held in private at a later date.
