What’s open, what’s closed on Labor Day in Conn.
Labor Day is both a federal holiday and a state holiday in Connecticut, meaning many workers will be enjoying a paid day off as they take in the last days of summer. However, some businesses have chosen to keep their doors open during the holiday.
Here are the businesses that will stay open and those that will close for Labor Day holiday in Connecticut.
Retail stores
While hours might vary by location, large retail chains will remain open during the holiday, including:

Grocery stores and delis
Many grocery stores have noted they will keep their doors open for the holiday including:

Mail and delivery services
U.S. Postal Service offices will be closed on Labor Day.
UPS stores will be closed. Pickup and delivery services will also be halted on Labor Day, according to its website.
FedEx’s shipping services will be halted for the day, but some FedEx Office and Custom Critical locations will be open with modified hours, according to its schedule.
Banks
All national banks, including Bank of America,Chase, TD Bank and Wells Fargo will shut their doors on Labor Day.
Local banks and credit unions such as Fairfield County Bank, Newtown Savings Bank and Sikorsky Financial Credit Union
will also be closed in observance of the holiday.
State parks and beaches
State parks and beaches will be open on Labor Day. For some towns, parking passes are no longer needed to access the beach after Labor Day.
Zoos, amusement parks and museums
Lake Compounce and Quassy Amusement Park are both open, according to their calendars.
The Mystic Aquarium, Maritime Aquarium and the Beardsley
Zoo will also remain open for the holiday.
Public libraries
Public libraries across the state and country will be closed.
State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles
DMV offices will be open for limited hours on Friday, Sept. 1, according to its website. Offices will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 2, in observance of the holiday. DMV offices are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Government buildings and courts
Most local town halls and offices, as well as non-essential federal offices, will be closed during the legal holiday.
Courts throughout the state will also be closed.
Connecticut Lottery
Connecticut Lottery headquarters will be closed on Labor Day. Some High-Tier Claim Centers and Sportsbook locations will remain open on Monday.
Regularly scheduled lottery drawings will still occur.
