Stanley M. Shields

Stan Shields, who was known on WELI as Sir Stanley in his Castle, passed away April 12, 2023, in West Palm Beach, FL, at the age of 92. Stan grew up in Manhattan, and after graduating from Brooklyn Law School and passing the bar exam, he was immediately drafted into the army. During his army time in Chicago, he decided he wanted to be a broadcaster. Stan began in 1956 as a night announcer on WELI, moving on to his daytime show. After leaving his on air show, Stan became National Sales Manager, and, in 1985, he became Vice President and General Manager for WELI and Clear Channel Communications.

Stan is survived by Barbara, his wife of 61 years, and daughter, Susan, and her husband, Nick Maounis, and children, Lexi and Tim, and their son, Stephen and his wife Juliana, and daughter, Annika.
