-

Sharon Ann (Nesser) Chieppo was born August 1, 1946 to Barbara (Esposito) Nesser and Paul Gerard Nesser in New Haven, CT and raised on Downing Street. She attended elementary and middle school in Fair Haven and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1964. She went on to marry and raise her family in Morris Cove. She enjoyed her years working at City Printing, Gamma One, and Vertis in North Haven, where many coworkers became friends. Sharon opted to work second shift, which allowed her to spend days with her children during summer breaks when they were young. Those days often consisted of going to any number of local town beaches as well as Double Beach and Colony Beach Clubs. Sharon loved the beach and was an avid collector of shells and sea glass and enjoyed feeding shorebirds. She enjoyed many trips to Cape Cod and Block Island throughout her life, as well as visiting Newport, RI, frequently. Cliff Walk was a favorite and the America’s Cup races in 1983 were a stand-out trip. It wasn’t all sun and sand though. Sharon also loved skiing and enjoyed many trips with the New Haven Ski Club. She was an animal lover and often donated to her favorite rescue charities, as well as donating to

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and U.S. Veterans organizations, among others.

She was tragically predeceased by her first-born son, Gary John Chieppo Jr., in November 2022.

She is survived by her daughter, Kirsten Ann Chieppo of Branford, and her son, Christian Daniel Chieppo of New Haven. She passed peacefully, in the early hours of October 16th, while receiving hospice care at the home of her daughter, who is humbled and honored for the gift of being her caretaker in her final months.

It was her wish that there be no service. Her only wish was for a memorial mass at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, CT, which will be announced once a date has been scheduled. In addition, an announcement of a small memorial gathering for family and friends will be forthcoming.
