Shawn Klein & Phil Fung

- Sarah Willets

Manhattan. Phil, 49, and Shawn, 51, first spotted each other on the dance floor.

The pair met on Nov. 13, 1993, at the now-closed Roxy.

“He’s cute. Let’s go dance by him,” Phil remembers telling a friend before doing just that.

“We kind of hit it off right away,” adds Shawn, administrator of procurement at New York Presbyterian.

The Gramercy couple has been together ever since.

It wasn’t until same-sex marriage was legalized in New York last summer that Phil and Shawn began to talking about an engagement.

They originally planned to marry on their upcoming anniversary, until friends told them about the Empire State Building’s annual Valentine’s Day contest.

As one of four couples who won, Phil and Shawn received a custom celebration designed by celebrity wedding planner Colin Cowie.

They met several times with Cowie, who welcomed their request for a classic affair, but ultimately wanted to surprise them. Among the special touches: two suits from Men’s Warehouse and rings from De Beers.

The result was a “beautiful and chic and elegant” affair full of tangerine accents, says Phil, who works in the tech department of a financial services firm.

At their afternoon ceremony, the two walked down the aisle to Michael Bolton’s “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” in front of 40 guests, including 10 of Shawn’s relatives from Wisconsin and further west.

“It was great to be able to share that day with them,” he says.

The reception was also held at the Empire State Building.

Since they had no idea they’d be tying the knot so soon, the couple hasn’t planned a honeymoon yet, but is excited to spend time together in the city they love.

“I look forward to seeing friends of ours have the opportunity to get married as well,” says Phil.
