Thrown for loop
EMS unaware crash victim in SUV
A GRUESOME drunken-driving wreck sent a motorcycle passenger hurtling through an SUV window and into its back seat — where rescuers failed to find him for 20 minutes.
The motorcycle’s critically injured driver was taken to a local hospital and the Cadillac Escalade’s driver was arrested before the battered, bleeding second victim was spotted, sources told the Daily News.
An Emergency Medical Service crew and its captain had already left the scene early Friday when police finally noticed the second victim inside the black SUV, the sources said.
Another ambulance was sent back for the passenger.
“The cops didn’t even know he was there at first,” said stunned witness Raj Ramsaywack, 40, after the 4:15 a.m. crash. “They didn’t realize it until after they had already picked up the other guy.”
The passenger also was in critical condition after the speeding motorcycle slammed into the side of the 2005 Escalade when its boozed-up driver ran a stop sign, according to police and the witness.
Ramsaywack said the bike was flying at about 80 mph before the wreck, and had no chance to avoid the collision.
The motorcycle operator was pinned between the SUV and the wreckage of his bike at the intersection of Atlantic Ave. and 124th St. in Richmond Hill.
SUV driver Mohan Omesh, 29, of Queens, was nabbed by cops at the scene and taken to the 102nd Precinct. A Breathalyzer test registered his blood-alcohol content at 0.17, a source said — more than twice the legal limit.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving without insurance, another police source said.
“He doesn’t drink — maybe on occasion,” said Jagdad Omesh, 53, the suspect’s stunned father.
The motorcycle driver, 23, and his 21-year-old passenger were taken to Jamaica Hospital. Doctors found marijuana taped to the leg of the driver and crack hidden in the passenger’s anus, a police source said. With Kevin Heckman n
