Dodgers win with Donnie suspended

ATLANTA — Hanley Ramirez drove in four runs with two homers Saturday night, including the first of three straight shots by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second inning in a 6-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.

Ramirez, James Loney and Luis Cruz hit consecutiv­e homers in a span of four pitches from Ben Sheets. Ramirez added a three-run shot in the sixth. The four homers were the Dodgers’ only hits.

The Dodgers were without manager Don Mattingly, who was suspended for two games and given an undisclose­d fine Saturday “for excessive arguing” with home plate umpire Angel Campos in Thursday’s 10-6 loss in Pittsburgh. Mattingly and outfielder Matt Kemp were ejected in the game.

Bench coach Trey Hillman filled in for Mattingly.

D-BACKS 12, ASTROS 4: Manager Brad Mills and coaches Mike Barnett and Bobby Meacham were fired after host Houston fell to Arizona. The Astros are an MLB-worst 39-82.

CARDINALS 5, PIRATES 4: Yadier Molina had three hits and two RBI as host St. Louis pulled within a game of Pittsburgh for the second NL wild-card spot.

REDS, CUBS SPLIT: Johnny Cueto pitched eight crisp innings, Todd Frazier hit a go-ahead homer for the second straight game and host Cincinnati beat Chicago, 5-3, in the opener of a day-night doublehead­er. Ryan Ludwick went deep twice for the Reds as they dropped the nightcap, 9-7. Also, shortstop Starlin Castro and the Cubs reportedly agreed to a contract extension for $60 million over seven years.

GIANTS 8, PADRES 7: Joaquin Arias homered and drove in three runs as visiting San Francisco beat San Diego, whose $800 million purchase by a group including the family of former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Peter O’Malley and golfer Phil Mickelson was approved by MLB.

RAYS 10, ANGELS 8: Evan Longoria homered in a seven-run fifth as visiting Tampa Bay overcame an 8-0 deficit.

ORIOLES 3, TIGERS 2: Chris Davis hit a three-run homer to snap a scoreless tie in the seventh inning for visiting Baltimore .

ROYALS 9, WHITE SOX 4: Mike Moustakas drove in four runs as host Kansas City overcame Adam Dunn’s 400th career home run to beat Chicago.

A’S 8, INDIANS 5: Yoenis Cespedes homered and drove in three runs for host Oakland.

RANGERS 2, BLUE JAYS 1: Nelson Cruz hit a two-run homer as visiting Texas beat Toronto.
