a ‘Kindness’ gesture
Young Patrick Schwarzenegger helps promote Lady Gaga’s anti-bullying campaign
While Arnold Schwarzenegger whacks big-screen baddies in “The Expendables 2,” his son Patrick is battling real-life bullies and creeps in a crusade led by Lady Gaga.
Schwarzenegger, a hunky 18-yearold model-turned-actor, is throwing his weight behind the pop queen’s back-toschool product line that’s made to boost kids’ self-esteem and tolerance.
The teen Schwarzenegger appears in a public service announcement promoting Kindness Sticks, Post-It Notes and Bravery Bracelets inspired by Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation. They will be sold at Office Depot, which is funding the campaign.
Schwarzenegger, who will make his movie debut as a frat boy in next year’s “Grown Ups 2,” tweeted a photo from the video shoot.
He’s seen wearing a “Be Brave” T-shirt and has a “Be Kind” Post-It stuck to his forehead. He stands behind the messages: “The overall campaign is like a movement to spread kindness,” he told “Entertainment Tonight.”
And the message couldn’t be more timely, he says, as kids get ready to go back to school.
Schwarzenegger says he was inspired by Mother Monster during her visit to his Brentwood, Calif., high school, which he graduated from two months ago.
Lady Gaga visited to talk about her charity work.
“She was bullied, and obviously some people were cruel and mean to her when she was growing up,” he told “ET.”
“But I think the world and society accepted who she was. And now her level of fame and success shows other kids that they can really be who they are.”
The promotional videos, expected to premiere this week, also star Greyson Chance, 15, who shot to fame with his YouTube cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” in 2010. “As kids my age go back to school this year,” said Chance, “I want to help remind everyone of the importance of being brave and kind to each other. ”Office Depot said that 25% of proceeds from the limited-edition supplies will go to Born This Way, for a guaranteed minimum donation of $1 million.
