Detaches own foot after hiking horror

A COLORADO college student has become an Internet sensation after she detached her foot from her leg during a fall in the Wyoming mountains — and recorded the harrowing experience on tape.

Alexandra (Lexi) DeForest of Fort Collins was climbing in the Vedauwoo Mountains in southeastern Wyoming with her friend, Eric Henry, when she fell 8 feet while trying to jump across a trench and got stuck, ABC News reported.

The 21-year-old recorded a six-minute and 40-second video while trapped, awaiting help. The video diary has gone viral since it hit the Internet Wednesday, boasting more than 150,000 views so far.

“Oh, so this is me. I just broke my ankle. Eww. Second time now. This is me moving my foot and it’s really gross,” DeForest says, showing her injured ankle.

“I’d show you more but if I looked at it, I might vomit on myself. And no one wants to see that. But, I don’t know first-aid for a foot that is not attached to your ankle. I am doing the best I can.”

DeForest, a senior at Colorado State University, appears relatively calm during the video, speaking to her friends, family and beloved dog.

Deforest ends the video by calling out to Henry, who had returned to the trench with paramedics.

DeForest has since undergone two surgeries to attach her foot back to her ankle. She cannot walk as of yet, but she is able to move her toes.
