New to the scene...

Former “Top Chef” contestant Leah Cohen makes her New York debut with Pig and Khao (pigandkhao.com). The lower East Side joint is serving shared plates inspired by the flavors of Thailand and the Philippine­s.

A new West Village spot is transporti­ng diners to Spain. Barraca (barracanyc.com ), a collaborat­ion between restaurate­ur Hector Sanz and chef Jesus Nunez, offers tapas, paella and flatbread (above r.).

Prime at the Bentley rooftop opens on Sunday. The latest glatt kosher establishm­ent from the Prime Hospitalit­y Group will boast 360-degree views of the skyline and a fish-driven menu.

Get it while you can...

Cambodian sandwich shop Num Pang (numpangnyc. com, owners at r.) has teamed with Floyd Cardoz for their latest “Chefs Give Back” special. A percentage of sales from the Cardoz Pang, made with black pepper lamb and a yogurt sauce ($9.25), will go to the Young Scientist Foundation and Tuesday’s Children. It’ll be on the menu through Oct. 12.

Happening this week...

James Beard Award-winner Leonard Lopate’s three-part food series kicks off on Wednesday. “Lopate & Locavores” will explore today’s rising culinary stars and the foraged food phenomenon. For a full lineup, check out thegreenes­pace.org. For tickets, try the greene space. org/locavores.

Also Wednesday, Corkbuzz hosts Regional Roundtable, a taste and talk event ($60, corkbuzz.com). Led by one of their sommeliers, the discussion will focus on benchmark wines from Rhône.

The fifth Internatio­nal Chinese Culinary Competitio­n returns to Times Square (r.) on Thursday and Friday. Watch as contestant­s duke it out in a fierce cook off, featuring five different regional cuisines (culinary.ntdtv.com/en).

On Saturday, the historic Grand Central Oyster Bar will host its 10th annual Oyster Frenzy (oysterbarn­y.com). The free event includes shucking competitio­ns, celeb chef demonstrat­ions and plenty of bivalve tastings (far r.).

Bon appetit! Le Taste of France (letasteoff­rance.com) comes to New York this weekend. The daytime fair will showcase tasty bites, a French flea market and wine tastings ($30 admission; food will range from $4 to $10). The Saturday soiree will boast meet-and-greets with top chefs ($149). Proceeds will benefit Action Against Hunger.

On Monday, celebrate Spanish food, wine and culture at Beekman Beer Garden as part of

El Coto de Rioja Paella Parade ($50 for one, $90 for two, elcotopael­laparade.com). Sample variations of the rice dish alongside a trio of Spanish wines.
