Eagle RB blasts DE as Giant ballerina

- BY RALPH VACCHIANO

Osi Umenyiora’s favorite “Twitter gangster” is at it again, just in time to spice up the GiantsEagles game on Sunday night.

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy re-lit the fuse on his explosive feud with Umenyiora by blasting him as “a ballerina in a Giants uniform” and calling him the fourth-best defensive end on his team. He made his comments on “E:60,” a special on their longrunning feud that aired on ESPN on Tuesday night.

And though their feud has included some laugh-out-loud moments, “Shady” McCoy insists that it’s “real.”

“Yeah this is for real — like I don’t like Osi,” McCoy said on the show. “I don’t know how he feels. He might think it’s a game, but I don’t play them type of games. So every time on the field I would say stuff to him like ‘You is a bum. You are the third-best defensive lineman on the defense.’ Which I didn’t lie.

“Wait, I did lie. He’s like fourth now, so I actually did lie.”

This silliness has been going on since the spring of 2011 when Umenyiora was embroiled in one of his many contract disputes with the Giants. Out of nowhere, McCoy chimed in via Twitter calling Umenyiora “Overrated n soft 3rd best d-line on his team honestly.”

A furious Umenyiora responded harshly in several interviews, calling McCoy a “Twitter gangster,” “Lady Gaga,” “a little girl” and he promised McCoy would “get what he deserves” because “What he did was unforgivable. He ran his mouth. He crossed the line that shouldn’t have been crossed.”

The two stayed mostly silent, though, until last May 13, when Umenyiora sent this unprompted tweet in McCoy’s direction: “Happy Mothers Day Lesean Mccoy! Enjoy your special day!!”

McCoy didn’t respond at the time because, he told ESPN, he was going through his own “contract situation” (He was on the verge of signing a five-year, $45 million extension and he said, “I gave (Eagles coach Andy Reid) my word I won’t say nothing . . . at the time.”

“Now th a t that’s over I can let you know how I really feel,” McCoy continued. “Osi, to be honest, he is a good player. I think he thinks he’s better than what he really is. I think he’s a ballerina in a Giants uniform, but other than that that’s all I got to say about Osi.”

Umenyiora, who has just one sack this season, took the high road in his response to McCoy (261 yards, one touchdown, through three games) calling him “one of the greatest running backs in the league.” He also dismissed McCoy’s criticism in an interview on Tuesday with ESPN Radio, saying “The people who I’m playing against tell me what type of player I am. I don’t have to listen to LeSean McCoy.”

As for being a ballerina? Well, Umenyiora told ESPN, McCoy is “probably right.”

“I might be a ballerina in a Giants uniform,” Umenyiora said. “I’m lucky I got the contract (a restructured deal that will pay him about $6 million this season). I’m lucky to be playing 10 years in the league, to have won two Super Bowls. All that is pure luck.” Osi Umenyiora will have full dance card Sunday night as Eagles’ LeSean McCoy rips pass rusher as a ballerina. Photo illustration
