Tebow RB intrigue carries on
Aday after Rex Ryan suggested that Tim Tebow could see time at running back due to depth issues, the star mostly quarterback was his typical coy self. Asked if he has practiced at running back this week, Tebow said, “Yeah, I practiced carrying the ball a few times.” When pressed, he added only, “Well, if running back is carrying the ball, then sure.” Tebow has lined up at running back this season, but has not had a carry from there. The last time he did that, Tebow said, was his freshman year at Florida.
Though he wouldn’t say if he has actually worked as a running back this week, Tebow did note that “most every day I’ve been doing something, from Wildcat or direct snaps or something.”
HE’S KRAFTY
Patriots owner Robert Kraft weighed in on Ryan’s personality in an interview on ESPN Radio. “Part of it is the marketplace you're dealing with,” Kraft said. “I think a guy like Rex Ryan, if I were a Jet fan, I’d love having Rex Ryan as my coach. First of all, he’s an exciting guy to listen to, and he's a heck of a coach, too.
“In the end, for me, I would accept anyone who can deliver and execute and win,” he added. “That’s what you want. I don't think there is any cookie-cutter approach. A lot of it is what works for (Jets owner) Woody (Johnson) too and what he feels is right for him. I think he’s a colorful guy and I think he represents the Jets franchise well and he’s exciting.”
TEBOW TRADEMARK
Tebow’s management group, XV Enterprises LLC, has acquired the trademark for “Tebowing.” Tebow, who was unaware that the term had been trademarked, said the kneeling pose he made famous last season in Denver is still “praying” to him, but that he wanted to make sure it wasn’t misused. The trademark extends from T-shirts and jerseys to toy rockets and jigsaw puzzles. . . . RB Shonn Greene was named the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week after his 161-yard, three-touchdown performance against the Colts. A local branch of Junior Achievement, a volunteer program, will be granted $2,000 in Greene’s name. . . . LB Aaron Maybin was fined $7,875 for unnecessary roughness on Colts QB Andrew Luck Sunday. DE Quinton Coples was fined $10,000 for a facemask on Luck.
