Trip’s on The News

It’s dream honeymoon 41 yrs. after marriage

IT TOOK 41 years, but Linda Taylor finally got her romantic honeymoon — thanks to the Daily News.

The 63-year-old won an all-inclusive trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean through The News, and used the opportunity to finally take the trip she missed. “It was a fabulous trip,” she said. “I got married when I was 22 — whatever I heard about what a honeymoon could be, it was!”

Taylor’s first attempt at a honeymoon in Canada following her wedding was scuttled due to an injury to her hand. The next year, a trip to Miami fell through thanks to bronchitis. The third year of marriage she and her husband, George, went to Last Vegas.

“Not a place for a honeymoon,” Taylor said.

Fast-forward 41 years and Taylor won the trip, which just so happened to fall on her anniversary, Sept. 19. “The trip said I could bring two kids under 15, but we weren’t doing that for our honeymoon,” she joked.

Instead, she and her husband relaxed for four days and three nights at the Sandals Beaches resort. They had an ocean view, dined at eight restaurants and enjoyed a fire-dancer show. The night of their anniversary, the couple’s daughter had a bottle of wine and chocolate strawberries delivered to their table.

Taylor said her father introduced her to The News when she was 3 by using the comics to teach her to read. Now, the Hoboken, N.J., native has the paper delivered to her homein Hamburg, N.J. “I always read The News,” Taylor said.
