Can Kim & Kanye make a French connection? Oui!

- BY ALISON GAYLIN

Sacre bleu! Kim Kardashian and Kanye West want to trade the City of Angels for the City of Light. Recent reports have Kimye in such a hurry to move to Paris, they’ve been scouting Parisian hospitals for the birth of le bebe in July. That gives the fame-seeking pair little time to get used to their elegant new home base, which is a far cry from flashy Los Angeles and Miami.

How will Kim adjust to life without Rodeo Drive

shopping sprees, a parking spot for her Phantom Bentley or, gasp, personal training with Tracy Anderson? And more important, how is she going to solve her frequent fashion failures so she can fit in with the city’s glitterati?

“They’re definitely going to need some advice, especially Kim,” says celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, whose starstudded client list includes Francophiles Halle Berry and Salma Hayek. “The difference between Kim and Halle and Salma is, Salma is married to a Frenchman and Halle is dating someone who’s French. Kim just wants to keep up with Les Joneses.”

If Kim is serious about becoming a Frenchwoman, though, she’ll need to make some big changes, starting with her shoes.

“We do a lot of walking in Paris, and since she won’t be able to park her big car near her house, she’s not going to be able to get around in those high heels,” explains FIAF (French Institute Alliance Francaise) membership director Celine Mazieres. “I recommend ballet flats.”

Mazieres also suggests a less tacky look, starting with more natural makeup and cutting down on the designer accessories, while Bloch puts it more bluntly: “Less slutty, more subtle.”

To that end, Bloch urges Kim to hook up with a new group of Parisian besties, who can keep her company when Kanye’s touring while also acting as a sort of personal fashion police.

“Marion Cotillard has been on the cover of American Vogue, which Kim has always wanted,” he points out. “Carla Bruni would be great too, but to interest Kim, she’ll need a more impressive husband than an ex-president.”

Though strict French paparazzi laws may put a damper on Kim’s quest for publicity, Bloch thinks there are are parts of French life she’ll take to right away. “You can go topless on the beach,” he notes. “And with so many fashion designers, there’ll be free clothes.”

He even sees Parisian reality show possibilities.

“Kim and Kanye take the Louvre,” he laughs. “Why not?”
