Stalk-susp prof nixes no-jail deal

- Barbara Ross

A RAUNCHY Dutch economist accused of stalking her former lover after the romance fizzled out rejected a no-jail plea deal from prosecutors.

Heleen Mees — looking thinner than ever in black slacks, heels and sweater with leather elbow patches — smiled slightly as her lawyer, Ira London, gave the offer the thumbs down.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office said it was willing to let Mees, 44, go free if she pleaded guilty to second degree harassment, completed three months of private therapy and stayed away from Citibank chief economist Willem Buiter, 63. After three months, she could withdraw her guilty plea.

“The complainant has played a ‘stop, don’t stop’ game for three years,” London said, referring to Mees’ claim that Buiter sent her emails even after she was arrested in July.
