Brooklyn: To Voicer Robert McGuire: Merit does matter, and Mayor de Blasio has every right to appoint a new FDNY commissioner. There are plenty of candidates of all races who would do an outstanding job. The FDNY will still be the greatest in the world — because of the firefighters and EMTs, not Sal Cassano.
