Johnny’s the Man & so is Melo, Christie you outta know ....

- The Mike Lupica Show can be heard Monday through Friday at noon and Sunday at 9 a.m. on ESPN 98.7.

There are too many teams ahead of the Jets in the draft needing a quarterback for Johnny

Manziel to fall all the way to Florham Park.

And it is hard to see the Jets trading up to get him, not so terribly long after they traded up to get Mark Sanchez, that year’s franchise quarterback of the future.

But if there was a way to get the kid, he would only be the most exciting draft choice the Jets have made since Joe Namath came out of Alabama.

Mostly because Johnny Football is one of the most exciting college football players — in just two years at Texas A&M — of all time.

And if you think he’s too small, even with that big an arm, it is worth a reminder, even on a weekly basis, that Manziel is bigger than Russell

Wilson. Even people in outer space know that Carmelo Anthony has a chance to walk away from the Knicks at the end of the season — even if the move would involve leaving a lot of money on the table — that Anthony has pretty much the same stats this season that he did last season, with the exception being a couple of more rebounds from him a game.

This is a good thing, by the way, Anthony playing this way, because a year ago he was clearly one of the most valuable players in his sport.

He is playing like a star — and playing harder than ever in New York — when the Knicks desperately need him to do that.

But it will be interesting to see how much extra love he gets from the fans and from the media — and extra praise — from now until the end of the regular season.

Chris Christie playing a victim in the whole BridgeGate deal might be the greatest stretch he’s ever made on the stage.

It is also fair to wonder, now that he is so outraged about what happened on the George Washington Bridge in September, why he wasn’t more outraged, well, about the George Washington Bridge in September.

And it is also fair, even if you thought Christie would have been a tremendous Republican candidate for President and made the whole thing a lot more fun, to keep asking this question: If he didn’t know, why didn’t he? And how didn’t he? If you looked at Christie’s comments from that long press conference the other day — his comments could be published in book form — he still seems to feel a lot worse for himself than the people victimized by a mean, dumb political crime. We read and hear a lot these days about how obsessed Hall of Fame voters are with steroids, which must be the reason why people are just as obsessed now with Hall of Fame voters.

The game between Florida State and Auburn last Monday night for the championship of college football was everything we ever want the big game to be in sports.

It had that fake punt and then three lead changes in the last four minutes and change, the last coming when Jameis Winston threw that touchdown pass to win it with 13 seconds to go.

It doesn’t mean you have to like Winston or root for him or believe he is innocent of the rape allegations whether no formal charges were brought against him or not.

But when Winston the football player, and Winston the Heisman Trophy winner, was asked to take his team 80 yards against Auburn and had 79 seconds to do that, he completed six out of seven passes and won the game. And having said that, guess what? If you made me choose between him and Manziel, I would choose Johnny Football every single time. If George O’Leary, the Central Florida coach, hadn’t enhanced his resume for some bizarre reason when Notre Dame was about to hire him as its head coach, guess what?

O’Leary would still be at Notre Dame.

The amazing part about J. R. Smith untying Shawn Marion’s sneaker is that he didn’t miss the sneaker entirely.
