VNS WESTCHESTER

Bringing the Best Care Home to Bronx Residents

-

As the Bronx celebrates its 100th anniversary, Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester is observing more than 100 years of service to residents of Westchester. The largest not-for-profit, independent Medicare-certified home healthcare agency in Westchester is also celebrating its second year of offering skilled nursing, rehabilitation, medical social work and home health aide services in the Bronx. The agency won approval from NY State to expand to the Bronx based on its legacy of excellent patient care and its commitment to reducing re-hospitalizations through such specialty programs such as TeleHealth remote monitoring. According to VNS Westchester President & CEO, Lou

Nemnom, “The Bronx has a growing population of people in need of home health services – people who are elderly, chronically ill, or at risk for health problems – and not enough healthcare resources to meet that need. Our agency has a long and successful track record in providing services that can make a profound difference in the health and well-being of

people of all ages.” The agency, says Nemnom, has established close partnerships with Bronx-based healthcare facilities to help patients transition to home care. “We stand apart from other home healthcare agencies by having nursing staff available in our office to take referrals and answer questions seven days a week. Most patients are seen within 24 hours of receiving physicians’ orders, and even the same day if needed.” For more information, call 1-888-FOR-VNSW or 718-828-8500.

VNS Westchester’s affiliate agency, Westchester Care at Home (WCAH), also expanded its private duty services to the Bronx after serving Westchester residents since 1988. The NY State-Licensed home healthcare agency offers personal care, such as dressing and grooming, meal preparation and housekeeping, laundry, shopping and errands, escort services to appointments, respite care and companionship, provided by Certified Home Health Aides, supervised by Registered Nurses. According to WCAH Administrator, Karen T. LaMonica, “we provide an extremely high level of training to ensure that our clients receive the best possible care. We want clients and families to rest assured that they or their loved ones are treated with the utmost compassion and respect. Many of our Aides live in the Bronx and are delighted to provide services in their home community.” WCAH is unique among licensed home health agencies in offering flexible schedules, says LaMonica. Affordable rates are available on an hourly or live-in basis, with no minimum number of hours and no contracts to sign. Some third party payers provide reimbursement for its services. For information, call 1-800-305-WCAH or 914-997-7912.
