LITTLE COOPER HARRIS was mourned Saturday at his funeral in Alabama while his father sat in lockup, charged with the toddler’s murder.

Justin Ross Harris, 33, called in to the service and emotionally thanked people for their support following his arrest in the 22-month-old boy’s death, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The dad was speaking by phone from the Georgia jail where he’s being held without bail on murder and child cruelty charges.

His son “never did anything to anyone,” he said. “I’m just sorry I can’t be there.”

Cooper’s mother, Leanna Harris, also made her first comments about the disturbing death and the accusations against her husband.

“Ross was and is a wonderful father,” she said to applause from about 250 mourners in Tuscaloosa, the paper reported .

Meanwhile, new details emerged about the cruel demise of the boy, who died of hyperthermia after being abandoned, strapped in a car seat, inside his dad’s SUV for seven hours on June 18, a brutally hot and humid day.

A newly served search warrant at the Harris home showed the father told investigators he recently searched the Internet to find how hot a car needed to be in order to kill a child locked inside.

“Justin stated that he was fearful that this could happen,” the warrant stated, according to CNN.

Police have said the dad returned to the car during a lunch break and they added that facts “do not point toward simple negligence.”
