CHICAGO — The Washington Nationals hit the halfway point of the season tied with Atlanta for the NL East lead.

Adam LaRoche and Wilson Ramos homered, Blake Treinen earned his first major league win and the Nationals beat the Chicago Cubs, 7-2, Saturday in the rainy nightcap of a split doublehead­er. Gio Gonzalez pitched two-hit ball over seven innings in the opener for a 3-0 victory.

In the second game, Washington tagged Jeff Samardzija (2-7) for six runs over five innings to salvage a four-game series split.

Saturday’s twin bill was scheduled to create an off day for Sunday, due to the city’s concerns over traffic resulting from the annual Pride Parade in Wrigleyvil­le. It will be the Cubs’ first scheduled Sunday off in 82 years.

BRAVES TAKE TWO: Ryan Doumit homered to lead visiting Atlanta to a doublehead­er sweep of Philadelph­ia with a 5-1 win in the nightcap. Justin Upton had two hits and three RBI in the opener as the Braves prevailed, 10-3.

DODGERS 9, CARDINALS 1: Zack Greinke (10-4) allowed a run and four hits over seven innings, struck out 10 and did not walk a batter for host Los Angeles.

BREWERS 7, ROCKIES 4: Carlos Gomez launched a three-run homer for host Milwaukee, which improved to a seasonhigh 19 games above .500 at 51-32.

A’S 7, MARLINS 6 (14): Josh Donaldson’s two-out RBI single scored the goahead run in the 14th for visiting Oakland.

WHITE SOX 4, BLUE JAYS 3: Dayan Viciedo hit a three-run homer for visiting Chicago.

TIGERS 4, ASTROS 3: Ian Kinsler hit a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning to rally visiting Detroit.

RAYS 5, ORIOLES 4: Tampa Bay hit three home runs off Wei-Yin Chen in a win over host Baltimore.

INDIANS 5, MARINERS 0: In Seattle, Cleveland’s Josh Tomlin threw a one-hitter, striking out a career-high 11.

ANGELS 6, ROYALS 2: Albert Pujols and David Freese combined to drive in five runs as the visiting Angels won for the seventh time in eight games.

RANGERS 5, TWINS 0: Yu Darvish (8-4) allowed four hits and struck out 10 over eight sharp innings for host Texas.
