Your dreams
TOUR BUS HEADS TO THE FINAL STOP
I dreamt I was waiting to board a fancy tour bus. African-American Broadway show types were milling about. (I’m African-American, as well). Ushered into a funeral parlor, I saw white caskets with glamorous, deceased ladies dressed in white and was led to a white casket of a Josephine Baker-type showgirl dressed in white with a feathered headdress. Not lying prone in the casket, her legs were turned to the side. Please interpret this dream.
Beverly R., Bronx
Analysis: Not sure where the road will take you, the dream — dare I say it — lays out career uncertainties. You must look at the deceased ladies — at the glamorous part of you that has died — before it’s too late and the lid is closed. In this view, death signifies the termination of a desire. If theatrical aspirations linger still, the dream encourages you not to give up: The Josephine Baker-styled showgirl in the casket has her legs to the side because she wants to stand out from the crowd and continue the dance.
HE LOVES ’EM AND LEAVES ’EM
I dreamt that a guy grabbed my hand at a party and guided me toward a small window he told me to kick in. As we jumped into this room a large piece of glass stuck in my leg. After a romantic montage of dating, laughing, hugging and kissing this guy, he dropped me for my roommate. Then we heard he died and remembered him strangely walking through walls, disappearing and then popping up again. What does this mean?
Alexis J., Bakersfield, Calif.
Analysis: The dream reveals anticipation of the sexual act but worries that afterward the guy may lose interest. Symbols such as the window that is kicked in, the glass in the leg (representing penetration) and the disappearing and popping up again of the guy/phallus are all allusions to the loss of virginity. The imagined experience stays with you throughout the entire dream because it has changed you in some way.
