Beauty vs. Match beast
A GORGEOUS Manhattan woman who has represented New York state twice in national beauty pageants is taking Match.com to court to find out who is impersonating her on the popular dating website.
Meaghan Jarensky, 36, wants a subpoena to get the identity of the Match.com subscriber who, using the name 1078 Yogi, posted Jarensky’s picture and some accurate biographical information as well as dicey declarations.
“Looking for Mr. Big,” “looking for a good time” and promises that the person with Jarensky’s picture will “satisfy you and appreciate you” are all in the fake profile and defame the former beauty queen because “they impute ... unchaste behavior, behavior,” according to Manhattan Supreme Court papers filedfil d byb JaJ rensky’s lawyer, Ina Scher.
The lawyer says the posting was published “with malice” and exposed her client to harassment and embarrassment.
According to court papers, the law in Texas, where Match.com is based, requires a court-approved subpoena before subscriber information can be released.
Jarensky represented New York in the 2005 Miss USA contest and finished in the top 10, and in 2010, under her married name, Meaghan Castaldi, she represented the state in the Mrs. America contest.
More recently, the 5-foot-9 brunette has been teaching yoga in Manhattan.
Jarensky brought divorce proceedings against her husband, Michael Castaldi, in Westchester County in July 2013 but it does not appear from court records that the divorce has been finalized.
Reached by cell phone, she declined to comment.
